Game Changer Award 2024

  • Our very own Head Cheesemaker, Clement October, was the winner of the inaugural Hollard Game Changer Award at the SA Dairy Champions in 2024.

    Clement has been part of the Klein River Cheese family for 16 years. Starting as a youth at the age of 19 - and apprenticing under the legendary cheesemaker Jaco van Beulen for 12 years - he took the reins of Head Cheesemaker in 2021.

    Since then, he has led the team that has together crafted 8 SA Champions, 3 Quality Awards, and 10 medals at the World Cheese Awards.

A new environmentally friendly boiler system has allowed us to improve efficiency of our heating systems needed for the cheese-making.

Carbon Footprint

Our proudest moment was the installation of a 27 kWh PV solar system on 26 October 2016 which has allowed us to save 3 tons of Carbon Dioxide and 3 MWh of power per month since its inception.
