Recipe of the month: Klein River Havarti (September 2017)

Havarti is a full-flavoured, mildly salty and creamy cheese that is perfect for the table. Whether you use it for slicing, grilling, or melting , Havarti is always a winner. This month’s  recipe is a creamy Havarti chicken bake.


4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 bottle Italian salad dressing
1 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp white cooking wine
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic salt
230 grams fresh, sliced mushrooms
150 grams Klein River Havarti


Preheat oven to 200° celcius.

In a large bowl, combine chicken and Italian dressing and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes. Transfer chicken to a baking dish and bake in oven for 20 minutes.

While chicken is baking, melt butter in a skillet. Add wine, Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt and bring to a boil.
Add mushrooms. Reduce to a simmer and cook until mushrooms are tender. Keep warm.

Remove chicken from oven. Top each chicken breast with a slice of havarti and mushroom sauce. Serve and enjoy!
